Originally from Germany, Marah has just completed her master's degree in Sustainability and Social Innovation at HEC Paris, exploring how sustainability can be systematically embedded into business decision making. She joins the Beyond Lab as a Carlo Schmid Fellow and will mainly contribute to two of the Lab's projects: Beyond GDP and the Spillover Innovation Learning Journey.

Marah is passionate about rethinking economic systems and shaping positive and actionable visions of the future, particularly for younger generations. In her bachelor's she studied International Management at ESB Business School in Germany and North Carolina State University in the US. Her experience spans consulting on sustainability and business strategy, financial planning at a European software company, NGO work on nature transition plans as well as inclusive leadership training. All these experiences have strengthened her ability to collaborate across cultures and disciplines.

Curious to connect with Marah?

Here are three questions she seeks to unpack within the Beyond Lab:

  • How can system-thinking be embedded systematically into policy making to ensure today's decisions are future-oriented by nature?
  • How can the voice of young people be included more meaningfully in co-creating a shared vision for the future?
  • How can businesses and other private sector actors be engaged more effectively in delivering sustainable development outcomes?
