Sustainability should not only focus on longevity but also on inclusivity, ownership, and ensuring that solutions are deeply rooted in the realities of those they aim to serve.
With roots from Uganda, Bella brings to the Lab a passion for development cooperation, long-term sustainability, and policy innovation.
Based on her previous development work and encounters with multiple stakeholders, she has witnessed how top-down approaches have often excluded the voices of those directly affected. This experience shaped her commitment to deriving innovative and inclusive approaches, especially the integration of indigenous knowledge and grassroots participation in policy and development.
With a background in education and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), Bella has worked on initiatives in vocational training, agriculture, renewable energy, and livelihood support, primarily focused on empowerment of women, youth, and vulnerable communities.
During her time at the Lab, Bella looks forward to engaging in design thinking approaches, creative problem-solving, policy analysis, and impact-driven innovation to address global challenges. She is particularly interested in rethinking development metrics—moving away from the ‘business as usual’ and traditional models to one that integrates inclusive participation, prioritizes local ownership, and long-term sustainability.
